Full-Time Permanent, Non-Exempt
The Field Hygienist/Environmental Technician-CSST is responsible for conducting assigned asbestos, lead, and mold survey fieldwork, data compilation, sample collection, and report drafting. Works directly underneath CAC/Operations Manager. Other responsibilities may include indoor air quality investigations, environmental site assessments, and industrial hygiene monitoring for workplace exposure. The qualified individual comes across a rare opportunity to expand their experience and training in other areas of environmental compliance in support of professional growth and development goals.
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- AHERA, NESHAP, mold and other IAQ site surveys, sampling and report preparation
- Oversight, site coordination and meetings during construction and abatement activities
- Perform perimeter and containment air testing during abatement activities
- Conduct Storm Water Pollution Prevention monitoring and reporting
- Conduct water, groundwater and soil sampling
- Conduct health and safety inspections and chemical inventories in laboratory settings
- Conduct hazardous materials business plan (HMBP) inspections, CERS online reporting, and regulatory agency compliance follow up for clients
- Conduct hazardous materials inventories and reporting to comply with various state regulatory standards
- Transcribe field data and report drafting for various inventories and inspections
Minimum Requirements:
- Time management, teamwork and multi-tasking skills
- Flexibility with work demands and deadlines that may require extended office or field working timelines, and willingness to travel outside of the Bay Area as needed for project work. Occasional work on weekends and/or holidays may be required.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds, stand and/or walk 8 + hours each day
- Produce reporting that is accurate and shows a high degree of attention to details
- Excellent written (report writing) and verbal communication skills
- Software such as Excel, Word, AUTOCAD
- Confined space entry, outside weather conditions, using ladders/lifts, climbing, working from heights, crouching and crawling that may be for extended periods during sampling and other activities
- Valid California class C driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA and EPA Standards, the California Health and Safety Code, California Building Code, and other relevant regulatory standards
- Obtain medical clearance to wear tight-fitting respirators for field work
- Minimum A.A. or B.S. degree in Environmental Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate and current annual updates a plus
- Certification as a Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) is required
- Certification or experience in lead paint sampling and abatement monitoring a plus (LST, LI/A)
